No matter the danger,

He shared God's Word.

Five hundred years ago, no one possessed a Bible in the English language. Since worship services in England were conducted in Latin, ordinary people—often referred to as "ploughboys"—knew nothing about the salvation found through faith in Jesus Christ.

However, one man dared to dream: to prepare a Bible in language that English ploughboys could understand and, through it, spread the Gospel. William Tyndale, a distinguished scholar of Greek, Hebrew, and Latin, possessed the unique talent required to translate the Bible into English. When church authorities opposed his undertaking, Tyndale resolved to continue his translation efforts, regardless of the severity of the danger he faced.

Despite facing persecution, hunger, and hardship, Tyndale tenaciously pursued his mission and translated significant portions of the Bible. He faithfully continued his work until he was betrayed by those he trusted, arrested, convicted of heresy, and burned alive at the stake. It was through his sacrifices that the English ploughboy gained access to the Bible. Tyndale’s unwavering determination to share God's Word in the language of the common people continues to bring about change in the world today.
