Local church should and can successfully assume responsibility within its ranks for restoring troubled people to full, productive, creative lives. Larry Crabb says every concept of biblical counselling must build upon the fundamental premise that there really is an infinite and personal God who revealed Himself prepositionally in the written word, the Bible, and personally in the living word, Jesus Christ. There must be developed a solidly biblical approach to counselling, one which draws from secular psychology without betraying its Scriptural premise, and one which realistically faces the deep problems of people and honestly evaluates its success in dealing with them.
