He would share God's Word, whatever the risk.
Five hundred years ago, no one had a copy of the Bible in the English language. Church services in England were con- ducted in Latin, and English peasants, or "ploughmen" as they were often called, had no knowledge of salvation by faith alone in Jesus Christ.
But one man dreamed of spreading the gospel by putting the Bible into words the English ploughman could understand. As one of Europe's leading scholars in Greek, Hebrew, and Latin, William Tyndale was uniquely gifted to translate the Bible into English. When church officials objected to his work, Tyndale determined to continue his translation efforts, no matter what the risk.
In spite of persecution, hunger, and hardship, Tyndale persevered with his mission, translating large parts of the Bible until he was betrayed, arrested, convicted as a heretic, and burned at the stake. Because of his sacrifices the English ploughman got his Bible. And Tyndale's determination for sharing the Word of God in the language of common people continues to change the world today.
